BRITISH VIRGIN ISLANDS Located in the north eastern Caribbean, the British Virgin Islands are a British Overseas Territory enjoying internal self government in a stable political environment. The legal system is based on English common law and the US dollar is legal tender within the islands. There are no exchange control regulations and entities established by and for international clients can operate from a tax neutral base in the BVI. FUND ADMINISTRATION Outsourcing fund administration can be a cost-effective and efficient way to set up and operate funds in offshore jurisdictions. ​ We can provide a comprehensive management and administration service to a broad range of fund structures. These include all types of funds such as retail open-ended public funds, quoted closed ended funds, private equity limited partnerships and sophisticated institutional funds. ​ Our services are tailored to meet clients’ specific needs. Derek also specialises in providing valuation and advisory services to clients in the BVI and around the world. Derek has been involved in corporate finance and valuation work for over around 18 years, advising public and private companies, and their owners, across a multitude of sectors. His experience enables him to bring a unique perspective to his role in the BVI, which is particularly valued by investment businesses and others conducting transactional work. Derek has been with Rawlinson & Hunter since 2004, having previously been a Partner in the London office. Before this, Derek spent seven years at Investec Investment Banking where he was a Director of Corporate Finance, moving there shortly after qualifying with KPMG. Derek is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. He is also a member of various valuation and corporate finance faculties and has written and spoken on the subject of valuations many times.
